Arachno Bib is mainly a bibliography of spiders, but we wish to see it expand to include all arachnids. The core data was provided courtesy of Jon Coddington; the search engine and interface (MyPHPBib) was developed by Rod Page, and the database is maintained by William Piel. The database currently has over 30,000 records. Anyone can search and browse these records, but only ISA members can add records by logging in using their ISA ID number and password (by entering the Members Only pages, users can locate their ISA ID number). For batch uploads of larger sets of records, please email them to me. Records can be uploaded and downloaded in a number of formats, such as Endnote, RIS, ISI, and BibTex. New records can be brought into the database automatically by entering a PubMed ID number. Full Text Archive ISA members can donate their PDF or DJVU files to the community by uploating them. If you do so, please but be sure that you are not violating copyright (articles that are > 100 years old are normally free of copyright restrictions — they are also hardest to get). RSS News Wire Users with an RSS news reader can receive a live update on the latest additions or modifications to ArachnoBib. For example, for Mac OSX users, they can download NetNewsWire Lite; Windows users can download SharpReader; Linux users can download Straw. Then just enter the following URL: http://www.arachnology.org/ISA/MyPHPBib/bib_rss.php Future Developments This service is under construction. The browse feature is very very slow, but we expect to fix this soon. Eventually we will offer batch downloading so that users can import large numbers of records into a desktop bibiographic package of their choice. At a later stage the batch downloading, search tools, and PDF files will be restricted to ISA members -- only browsing will be open to the public. |
