3rd December, 2002

Dear ISA members,

Please find enclosed the 2002 issue of the Liste des Travaux Arachnologiques. We delayed the shipment of this year's Liste in order to include and/or announce the Proceedings of the 15th International Congress of Arachnology held in Badplaas, South Africa in 2001, which has just been published. As for the 1998 Proceedings, the American Arachnology Society agreed to publish the 2001 Proceedings on very favourable terms. Non-AAS members receive printed copies; web access for all is at http://www.americanarachnology.org/JoA_tocs/JOA_contents_v30n2.html and http://www.arachnology.org/ISA/isaOnly/Proceedings/JoA_v30_n2/index.html.

I would also like to announce that after a number of years of invaluable work for the society, as both Secretary and then Membership Secretary/Treasurer, Jonathan Coddington wishes to step down from the Executive Committee in 2003 to concentrate on research commitments. On behalf of ISA I'd like to offer my sincere thanks to Jonathan for his years of service, and especially for managing the transitional period following the death of Jacqueline Heurtault and the change from CIDA to ISA.

The Executive is seeking a new Treasurer, but I am pleased to announce that we have recruited Dr. William Piel to act as our first official Webmaster. The Executive has purchased computer hardware for the Society and Bill Piel will shortly host the ISA homepage on a new, dedicated server. Our web address remains http//arachnology.org. In order to streamline the process of updating addresses online, Bill Piel has also agreed to act as Membership Secretary and the Executive have duly appointed him to this position. Please update your address, etc. on the web (default password = surname) and pay dues for 2003 (regular 20 USD or Euros; student or retired 15 USD or Euros) via 1) AAS or BAS, 2) your correspondent, 3) at ISA website + Pay Pal: or 4) to:

Dr. William Piel (ISA Membership secretary)

With very best wishes for 2003,

 Jason Dunlop (secretary)
