Arachnid Internet Mailing Lists

AcarologyACAROLOGY is a discussion list dedicated to the ACARI (mites and ticks). All acarologists are welcome to join. It is aimed to promote the information exchange and communication among all those who are interested in the Acari.

You may subscribe to this list by sending a "subscribe acarology" command (in the text part of the message) to "listserver@nhm.ac.uk". This command must NOT be sent to the list address "acarology@nhm.ac.uk". Please remember not to add a signature to your message, as the listserver will think it is a command and not recognize it. The "end" command can be used to stop interpretation of signatures and should appear as the last command.

Opiliones Discussion GroupDiscussion group run by Bill Shear. During the international congress of arachnology (Chicago, June 1998) numerous Opiliones researchers meet and decided that there should be better communication for the study of Opiliones. As a result, Bill Shear has begun a listserver. The purpose of this list is to provide a forum for the discussion of all aspects of Opiliones. Anyone interested in these animals is welcome to participate. Currently, there are no archives or digests, and the list is not moderated.

You can subscribe to this list by sending the message

subscribe opiliones
to mailserv@hsc.edu.

Any unresolved problems regarding subscription to the list should be addressed to Bill Shear at bills@hsu.edu.

Scorpion-EnthusiastsThis list is designed for the layperson who is interested in scorpions, especially those who like to collect and keep scorpions as a hobby. This list is not aimed at the half a dozen or so people trying to work on scorpions in academic settings (although they are welcome to participate). It is not a research forum. On this list, anyone can inquire about scorpion identifications, distributions, care and feeding, medical importance, etc. Anyone on the list is free to respond with their own ideas or share their personal scorpion experiences. I hope that after a while, we will be able to build up a nice archive of popular scorpion information.
